Outpatient Psychiatric Programs
The Center for Behavioral Health's Outpatient Psychiatric On-Site Services Program feature various levels of mental health care. For those coping with thought or mood disorders, adult and adolescent intensive outpatient and day treatment programs are offered. Professional therapy, group counseling and activities help individuals gain insight and confidence, so they can live healthy, productive lives.
Medication Clinic
The Medication Clinic offers accessible, cost-effective, mental health services to the community. Services are provided through collaborative relationships with the client, family and community. Advanced registered nurse practitioners and licensed mental health professionals, under the supervision of a psychiatrist, offer psychotherapeutic interventions and medication management. Scheduled appointments ensure privacy, timely treatment and follow-up.
Rebel's Drop-In Center
Named in honor of a person who had mental health problems, the Drop-In Center is open evenings, weekends and holidays to provide social support, advocacy and peer counseling for individuals with mental health or substance abuse issues. Featuring support groups, recreational activities and more, the free center is open to the community, and no appointment is needed. The center is a partnership of Memorial Healthcare System, the Mental Health Association of Broward County, the Department of Children and Families and the Human Services Department of Broward County.
Odyssey — Thought Disorder Program
(Adult Day Treatment Program)
The Odyssey Adult Day Treatment Program offers on-site treatment to adults with symptoms of a thought disorder, including schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorder. In addition to participating in group programs, individuals are assigned a clinician who coordinates treatment services. The program also provides information about community resources and referrals.
Choices — Mood Disorder Program
(Intensive Outpatient Program)
The Choices Intensive Outpatient Program provides intensive psychotherapy to adults with anxiety, depression or bipolar disorder. Individuals must participate in treatment and cannot be acutely suicidal or an active substance abuser.
Adults who have been diagnosed with a mood disorder and who are recovering from substance abuse are eligible to participate in the Choices dual diagnosis track, including relapse prevention and other substance abuse programs.
The Odyssey Adult Day Treatment Program and the Choices Intensive Outpatient Program offer intensive group programs to address symptoms and improve coping skills. Individuals participate in four groups each day. Psychotherapy groups emphasize family dynamics, interpersonal relationships, stress management, relapse prevention and assertiveness training. Psychoeducational groups provide information about mental illness, medication and health issues. Occupational therapy groups develop daily living and task performance skills. Vocational development activities, supported employment and volunteer opportunities are available. Transportation and lunch are provided.
