The Center of Behavioral Health
Outpatient Substance Abuse Services
SHARE Program (Continuum of Care)
For many years, the SHARE Program at the Center for Behavioral Health has provided comprehensive substance abuse treatment to those with alcohol or substance abuse problems. Depending on the level of care needed, the person may participate in inpatient detoxification; morning, afternoon and evening intensive outpatient programs; and day treatment programs. The SHARE team, led by a physician, includes specially trained therapists and nurses, therapeutic recreation specialists and a clinical psychologist. With the philosophy that chemical dependency is a treatable disease, SHARE helps patients overcome addiction to drugs and alcohol. An after-care group continues to provide support after completion of the program.
Day Treatment & Intensive Outpatient Program
Substance abusers who require individualized treatment without hospitalization can choose flexible morning, afternoon and evening outpatient programs. Held in a private, non-hospital setting, the morning and afternoon sessions provide confidential counseling for individuals and families. The comfortable setting encourages relaxation and reflection to help in healing.
Aftercare Support
Aftercare Support helps people remain sober after they complete the SHARE program. SHARE alumni meet weekly for one year to discuss their progress. They are also encouraged to join an organization such as Alcoholics Anonymous or Narcotics Anonymous, and SHARE staff are available to help individuals handle problems that arise during recovery. Family members may attend weekly support group meetings through the Family Aftercare Program and 12-step peer groups.
Dual Diagnosis Services
Dual diagnosis means that a person has a substance abuse problem and a mental health problem. Treating these individuals is complicated because both issues must be addressed, typically in a structured environment. Group, individual and family counseling can be effective therapy for patients with dual diagnosis.
