Volunteer Work at Memorial Regional Hospital
Volunteer Work Opportunities
Memorial Regional Hospital Volunteer Auxiliary is a dynamic membership organization whose members perform volunteer work to provide patient and hospital support, fundraising and community outreach.
In addition to organizing and overseeing all volunteer work and activities in the hospital, the auxiliary has raised millions of dollars for hospital services and improvements.
Memorial Regional Hospital has a wide variety of volunteer work for anyone who wants to help others. Some positions require regular hours, while others have flexible schedules.
Volunteer work is available for those who have limited mobility or are homebound. Auxiliary members work in many areas of the hospital.
Emergency Room Patient Relations
Memorial's emergency room is one of the busiest in the region. Patient relations volunteers greet patients and visitors, direct them to designated areas and provide information about patients when appropriate. Emergency room volunteer work is fast-paced and demanding, requiring volunteers who are friendly, patient and compassionate.
Flower Delivery and Mail Room
These energetic volunteers make deliveries and run errands throughout the hospital. Because of the nature of the duties, volunteers must be able to walk long distances.
Gift Shop
Memorial's gift shop carries a variety of snacks, cards, floral arrangements, magazines, gift items and seasonal decorations. The volunteers are always cheerful and helpful.
Lobby Greeters and Escorts
Memorial Regional Hospital is so big that it might intimidate some visitors. Volunteer greeters and escorts are available to direct and guide visitors to the department or service needed.
Visitors Service Center
Often, patients — as well as visiting friends and family members — are not able to walk long distances. Volunteers in the Visitors Service Center transport patients and visitors, by wheelchair, when requested by a department of the hospital.
