Baby Care
Up-to-date information for expectant parents on basic baby care, crib safety, Sudden Infant Death Syndrome prevention, signs of illness, bonding pointers and characteristics of newborns. This class includes hands-on practice in bathing, dressing and diapering.

Boot Camp for New Dads
Prepares expectant dads for the responsibilities of fathering. Specially trained, experienced "coaches" who are fathers themselves lead the class. Participants should attend this class prior to the birth of their baby and return when their baby is about 2 months old to share experiences with rookie dads.

Breastfeeding
Provides the most current information and tips to make the early days of breastfeeding a positive experience for new mothers and their infants. Dads and grandparents are welcome and are encouraged to come.

For couples anticipating a Cesarean birth. One session of our childbirth preparation class covers Cesarean birth, postpartum adjustments and a hospital tour.

Childbirth Preparation /Childbirth Marathon
Offered in both English and Spanish. Provides the most current information about pregnancy, labor and postpartum recovery. Includes relaxation methods, comfort measures and breathing techniques to prepare you for labor. Information about the risks and benefits of certain medical procedures — including epidurals, medications, episiotomies and cesarean sections — also is included to help you make informed childbirth choices. Hospital orientation is included. Mothers-to-be are encouraged

For couples who took a childbirth preparation class for a previous pregnancy. The class includes updates and practice on breathing techniques and comfort measures.

Grandparents Class
Addresses the special contribution grandparents make in the lives of their grandchildren. Includes how things have changed since their own children were born and provides the latest information on childbirth, baby care and baby safety. Grandparents are encouraged to attend CPR classes as well.

Healthy Pregnancy
Promotes a safe, healthy and comfortable pregnancy. A variety of topics is discussed, including danger signs, preventing preterm labor and comfort measures for pregnancy. Participants are encouraged to take this class as early in pregnancy as possible. Coupon toward registration for another prenatal class is awarded upon completion of this class.

Infant/Child CPR
Teaches life-saving techniques for families of infants and children 8 and younger. The class follows American Heart Association guidelines. A certificate is awarded upon completion of the class.

Infant Massage
Demonstrates techniques for infant massage and emphasizes the importance of touch in development. The class is for parents of healthy babies 4 weeks old to pre-crawling stage. Please bring your baby to class. Massage oil and textbook included.

Nursing Mothers Support Group
An ongoing support group to provide breastfeeding assistance and encouragement from other moms and our board-certified lactation consultants. Nursing babies are welcome.

Siblings Class
A variety of activities to teach and prepare children ages 3 to 8 for the arrival of a baby in the family. Includes a trip to the nursery. Participants are encouraged to bring a doll for each child.

Class Fees
Classes through the Family Birthplace at Memorial Regional Hospital are free or have a nominal fee. Our goal is to provide accurate, up-to-date information to the community about pregnancy, childbirth and parenting.
If the fee of a class is a concern for you, please call us at (954) 987-2020, extension 4484. We request payment for classes in advance.
Please call (954) 985-5930 to register for classes and arrange for payment. Receipt for payment, if needed, will be given on the day of the class.
