Brain Attack Program/Stroke CenterMemorial Regional Hospital is designated a Primary Stroke Center by the American Stroke Association. In addition, the Brain Attack Program/Stroke Center is a member of the national Brain Attack Coalition, working with the American Stroke Association and the National Institutes of Health to provide fast, highly specialized care to stroke patients. Diabetes Management Center
Emphasizing disease control and education, the Diabetes Management Center teaches patients and their families to cope with diabetes through nutrition, exercise, medication and medical care. Several support groups meet regularly to provide encouragement and information about diabetes.
Diagnostic Services
Memorial Regional Hospital has a full scope of tests and screening programs to diagnose illnesses and diseases, including bone densitometry (bone density), the Breast MRI Biopsy Coil (breast health) and LightSpeedTM computerized tomography (CT) Scan (for heart and lung).
Dialysis
A diverse team of physicians, specially trained nurses and dietitians provide services for patients with renal disease. In addition, social workers offer counseling, support and education on topics such as patient rights and advance directives.

Home Health Services
Memorial Home Health Services provides skilled care in the home for adult and pediatric patients recovering from an illness, injury or surgery. The patient's physician can order home care and determine which therapies are needed from registered nurses, therapists and social workers.
Hyperhidrosis Center
With an awareness of both the physical and emotional aspects of excessive sweating, Memorial Hyperhidrosis Center offers a comprehensive, multifaceted approach to this condition. Its team of physicians consists of specialists in dermatology, neurosurgery and cardiothoracic surgery whose efforts are coordinated by an experienced nurse practitioner. They work with each individual to provide a variety of suitable medical or surgical options. Psychological counseling also is offered.
Infusion Therapy
Infusion therapy is included in the care of many patients, including those with cancer, AIDS, nutritional problems, leukemia, heart disease and hemophilia.
Laboratory Services
Memorial Regional Hospital's Clinical and Pathology Laboratories perform onsite testing for inpatient and outpatient procedures using equipment.
Laparoscopic Surgery
Laparoscopic surgery is a cost-effective alternative to traditional surgery. It allows the surgeon to see clearly into the patient's abdomen and pelvis via a slender, light-containing, fiber-optic device attached to a camera. This way, the surgeon can perform the procedure with smaller incisions than those usually required for traditional surgery. It can be used to treat problems of the gallbladder, appendix, bowel and other organs and tissues.
Laser Surgery
A broad range of conditions is treated with laser surgery or laser therapy, including glaucoma, sleep apnea (to remove obstructive soft tissue), endometriosis and ovarian cysts.
Lithotripsy Services
Memorial Regional Hospital's advanced lithotripsy services include non-invasive methods of breaking up stones in the kidney, bladder, uterus and gallbladder. X-ray or ultrasound shock waves break the stones into tiny pieces, which are passed out of the body. The procedure reduces discomfort, potential for complications, hospital stay, costs and recovery time.
MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging)
Memorial Regional Hospital's Outpatient Radiology and Imaging Services Department performs diagnostic, therapeutic and non-invasive procedures using computed tomography, MRI, ultrasound and nuclear medicine.
Mammography
Both the American Cancer Society and the Society of Breast Imaging recommend annual screening mammograms starting at age 40 for a woman with no risk factors and earlier for a woman with a personal or family history of breast cancer or other risk factor. Mammography services include the R2 ImageChecker, which digitally analyzes mammogram images.
Mobile Mammography Van
The Mobile Mammography Van brings mammogram services directly to women in the community.
Neurointerventional Medicine
Neurointerventional medicine is an exciting approach to treating strokes, aneurysms and neurovascular diseases of the brain and spine. Using catheters and technology, neurointerventional radiologists in Memorial Neuroscience Center reduce blood flow to abnormalities in the brain, spine, head and neck, and restore normal blood flow to vessels affected by a clot or other obstruction. These procedures are minimally invasive and potentially life-saving options for patients who are not good candidates for traditional surgery.
NeurologyNeurologists in Memorial Neuroscience Center study, diagnose and non-surgically treat disorders of the central nervous system, such as migraine headaches, dementia, stroke, muscular dystrophy and more.

Respiratory Therapy
The respiratory therapy unit is staffed with physicians, respiratory therapists and nurses who evaluate and treat disorders such as pneumonia, asthma, pulmonary disease and cystic fibrosis. Services include testing, personalized therapy, social services, case management and nutrition services.
Sickle Cell Day HospitalThe Sickle Cell Day Hospital at Memorial Regional Hospital offers treatment and support for acute and chronic sickle cell syndromes. Ultrasound
Ultrasound covers a vast array of examination and testing services, such as cardiac echocardiograms to determine how efficiently a patient's heart is functioning and also check for tumors, leaks and fluid around the heart. In adults, ultrasound can also examine the bile duct, gall bladder, pancreas, kidney, bladder and aorta, as well as blood flow, obstructions, plaque build-up and clots. Ultrasound services for children include all exams for adults plus diagnoses of appendix problems, intestinal blockages and hip effusions. In obstetrics, ultrasound specialists measure a fetus, determine its age, study its features and organs, examine it for abnormalities and check blood flow through the umbilical cord, among many other tests. Ultrasound can also help identify problems of the carotid arteries, liver, prostate and other body organs and systems.

Specially trained respiratory therapists are responsible for providing respiratory care, managing ventilators and other respiratory equipment.
