Neurosurgery
The Center's neurosurgeons are trained to help adult and pediatric patients, using traditional and advanced, minimally invasive surgical options. Among the conditions treated are:
- Carotid artery disease
- Cerebrovascular disorders
- Cervical spine disorders
- Chronic pain
- Epilepsy
- Gliomas, complex tumors in delicate areas of the brain or spinal cord
- Head injury
- Herniated disk
- Intracranial aneurysm
- Lumbar spinal stenosis
- Meningomyelocele
- Spina bifida
- Spinal cord injury
- Stroke, or "brain attack"
- Trigeminal neuralgia
- Tumors, with a specialty in tumors of the pituitary gland
The Memorial Regional Hospital Neuroscience Center of Excellence team also includes neurosurgeons, neurointerventional radiologists, neuropsychologists, nurses and therapists. Together, the team provides continuous care, from admission to discharge to follow-up services, such as physical therapy and occupational, speech and recreational rehabilitation. Community education and prevention services are also important to the Center's mission.
