Memorial's Ortho-Neuro Rehabilitation Center services adolescents, adults and geriatric patients, providing quality services from acute medical/ surgical care to rehabilitation. Our focus is managing patient care through a transdisciplinary team that supports the patient's re-entry in the home, workplace and the community. Acute Inpatient - Ortho-Neuro Unit
The Acute Ortho-Neuro Unit provides acute medical/surgical services.
The unit accepts immediate post-operative cases, transfers from intensive care and direct admissions, providing acute medical/surgical ortho-neuro stability. Patient care assists patients with neuro-medical and neuro-surgical diagnosis, including: head and spinal cord injuries, brain and spinal cordtumors, cervical and lumbar disc disease, stroke, seizure disorders and neuro muscular diseases as well as patients with orthopaedic diagnoses, such as fractures, joint replacements, osteomyelitis and amputations.
Memorial Regional Hospital meets the guidelines for Traumatic Spinal Cord/Brain Injury Certification for the state of Florida.
Comprehensive Integrated Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit
Rehabilitation involves helping the patient achieve an independent lifestyle. Keeping the patient close to his or her environment is crucial.
Our inpatient facilities include a Neurosurgical/Trauma Intensive Care Unit, a Ortho-Neuro Unit and a Rehabilitation Unit. We are CARF accredited and designated as a Comprehensive Integrated Inpatient Rehabilitation Program.
These facilities are complemented by dedicated operating rooms and staff, diagnostic and therapeutic imaging areas, and comprehensive rehabilitation treatment facilities.
Patients treated include those with orthopedic disorders, stroke, neurological disorders, amputation, spinal cord injury/disorder, traumatic brain injury, multiple trauma and injury from motor vehicle accidents.
Inpatient Therapy Services
Includes speech, audiology, occupational, physical and therapeutic recreation. We work with patients and their family to identify specific and individualized goals.
Neuropsychology
Assists patients in maximizing independence and adjusting to the long term consequences of serious medical illnesses.
Occupational Therapy
Restores functional independence through physical rehabilitation, perceptual/
motor and cognitive retraining, fabrication and fitting of orthotic and positioning devices, and training for daily activities.
Outpatient Medical Rehabilitation
Improves the patient's functional level through integrated services, assessments and/or treatment.
Physical Rehabilitation
Maximizes the patient's ability to return to home, work and the community.
Physical Therapy
Assists in the restoration of functional patient independence.
Recreation Therapy
Teaches new lifestyles through a variety of social activities, sports, games, arts & crafts and music.
Social Services
Promotes social/emotional function and enables patients to receive the maximum benefits from rehabilitation services /activities.
Speech Language Pathology and Audiology
Provides assessment and therapeutic services to inpatients and outpatients — from neonatal through geriatric — who exhibit deficits and/or delays communication.
