Center for Behavioral Health — Outpatient Substance Abuse Treatment Services
Outpatient Substance Abuse Treatment Services
The Center for Behavioral Health at Memorial Regional Hospital provides a variety of outpatient substance abuse treatment services to assist those with chemical dependencies in overcoming their addictions. Memorial's programs are licensed by the Florida Department of Children and Families, which also provides funding support.
SHARE Program
For many years, the SHARE Program at the Center for Behavioral Health has provided comprehensive substance abuse treatment to those with alcohol or substance abuse problems. Depending on the level of care needed, the person may participate in outpatient detoxification; and/or morning and evening intensive outpatient treatment programs; and aftercare programs. The SHARE team, led by a physician, includes licensed therapists and nurses with specialized addiction training. With the philosophy that chemical dependency is a treatable disease, SHARE strives to help patients recover from addiction to drugs and alcohol. An aftercare group continues to provide support following completion of the program.
SHARE Ambulatory Detoxification Program
This alternative nonresidential program allows individuals to complete detoxification on an outpatient basis. The detoxification phase is typically two to three weeks, although more complicated cases may require more time, and the program is conducted under standardized, but individualized, medical protocols. Patients receive four hours of group therapy and medical services daily, seven days a week. Once the detoxification process is completed, the patient transitions to the Intensive Outpatient Program. Day Treatment and Intensive Outpatient Program
Substance abusers who require individualized treatment without hospitalization can choose flexible morning, afternoon and evening outpatient programs. Held in a private, nonhospital setting, the morning and afternoon sessions provide confidential counseling for individuals and families. The comfortable setting encourages relaxation and reflection to help in healing.
Aftercare Support
Aftercare support helps people remain sober after they complete the SHARE program. SHARE alumni meet weekly for one year to discuss their progress. They are also encouraged to join an organization such as Alcoholics Anonymous or Narcotics Anonymous, and SHARE staff are available to help individuals handle problems that arise during recovery. Family members may attend weekly support group meetings through the Family Aftercare Program and 12-step peer groups.
Co-Occurring Disorders Services
Co-occurring disorders means that a person has a substance abuse problem and a mental health problem. Treating these individuals is complicated because both issues must be addressed, typically in a structured environment. Group, individual and family counseling can be effective therapy for patients with co-occurring disorders.
Psychiatric Consultation Services
Addiction and mental health consultations for the Intervention Project for Nurses (IPN), Department of Health (DOH), and Professional Resource Network (PRN) are provided by a physician who is board-certified in psychiatry with an additional certification by the American Society of Addiction Medicine. Comprehensive timely evaluations are provided through appointment. For more information or to make an appointment, please call 954-965-6408, Extension 203.
